Ilias Efthymiadis, Nafpaktos

Free Sports

In 2008, after 20 years of professional experience as a wholesale salesman and sales manager in major sports companies, Ilias Efthymiadis decided, together with his wife Dorina, to leave bustling Athens and make a fresh start in the provinces. Thus, they began their new professional 'journey', with their first stop in Laconia, doing what they knew best: opening a retail sports goods store. Seven years later, in 2015, they moved their business dream to a new destination, Nafpaktos, where they remain to this day with the Free Sports store. From the beginning, Ilias and Dorina knew well that online sales were the future of commerce. However, they never dared to try, fearing they didn't have enough knowledge to support it. When the pandemic 'hit' society and commerce, their store's doors closed—along with their only source of income.

With little internet knowledge and no e-shop of their own, Skroutz was the easiest way to keep their business running during lockdown. Since November 2020, when they started selling their store's products online through Skroutz, Ilias and Dorina managed to grow their customer base and gain ground against the strong competition in the sports sector.

"Today, a store is illiterate if it does not have online sales" , says Ilias.
And he adds that "I regret not doing it sooner."

Today, Ilias and Dorina easily manage over 750 products daily on skroutz.gr and have managed to go from traditional sellers to conquering the online market as well.
